Emotional and Physical Stress

With the holiday season fast approaching and less day light every day until Dec 22, no wonder so many people are dreading the upcoming holiday season instead of embracing it’s joy.

One big issue is stress and if you don’t deal with it properly it may become depression. So let’s look at some strategies to manage the upcoming season with a smile.

The Mayo Clinic has given us a list of 10 things to do or watch for in the next few weeks. Here are a couple examples.

    1. Plan – Whether you are present shopping, entertaining or making the big dinner, mark a time slot in your personal calendar for the preparations. Go to the mall before work, prepare some food dishes beforehand, and freeze what you can. Maybe this year you should have a potluck dinner. Potlucks are always a great idea and remember all the dirty dishes leave your home!

2.     Ask for help – Whether you need a hand with the groceries or setting the table know when you are feeling over whelmed and ask for help. Remember not everything has to be perfect for the holidays.

3.     Just say NO! – This is one many of us forget to say. Every year we have new challenges and just because we did it last year or the year before, doesn’t mean we have to do it!

4.     Get professional help – Know when you are beyond the tipping point and seek medical help. Do it now don’t wait.

Hope you have a wonderful time planning time spent with your family and friends.
